What is P2E?
Paper to EDI (P2E) is Eagle Innovations solution for converting paper claims (HCFA, CMS-1500, UB-92, UB-04 and Dental) to EDI. Paper to EDI (P2E) employs a combination of: scanning, keying, correction, recognition, verification/validation, and export. The Paper to EDI solution has over a 99% accuracy rate; and further, any claims received by 5pm will be returned by 8am the following morning.
Paper to EDI (P2E) is used in one of two ways – i.e., as an in-house solution where the claims are opened, prepped, sorted and scanned at your organization, or as an outsourced mailroom operations function.
Can our organization maintain physical control of our claim files?
If your organization wants to maintain physical control of all its claim files then your organization would need to purchase scanning equipment. However, in this event, Eagle’s IT staff will be more than happy to assist by working with your team, and our equipment vendors, to find the perfect scanner for your claims volume.
How much does scanning equipment cost?
The cost of a scanning equipment can range anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000, depending upon page per minute speeds needed by your operations. Some of our larger paper conversion clients have had to spend upwards of $5,000 to do their scanning on-site because of claims volume.
Can my organization outsource our mail entirely – i.e. opening, preparation, and scanning?
If your organization receives paper claims and does not want to handle opening, preparation, or physical document storage in-house, Eagle can perform 1 or 2 functions:

Eagle can send a representative to pick up your claims on-site. Eagle will have your claims shipped to our processing and storage center via FedEx or UPS overnight. Throughout this process your organization will have access to all tracking data via Eagle’s web portal. All claims received by 5pm will be returned to your organization in electronic form by 8am the following morning. |

When could my organization begin using P2E if we want to outsource all of our paper?
Your organization could be processing paper to EDI claims as early as tomorrow. The P2E process is as simple as setting up your account. After an account is established your organization can either ship your claims directly from your mailroom, or ask Eagle to send a company representative to your location for claim pick-up. All shipping is done overnight via FedEx or UPS; and further, your organization receives all shipping information through Eagle’s web based portal associated with your account. Can the documents sent by my organization be returned?
Yes the documents can be returned to a location your choice – i.e., your office or a storage facility where you store your claim files.

Yes, Eagle Innovations can store your claim files for a monthly fee.
When could my organization begin using P2E if we decide to do the scanning in-house?
The average set-up time for in-house scanning is one to two weeks; however, if your organization already has the appropriate scanning equipment you could start tomorrow.
Web Portal Access to Your Claims, Statistics, and Reporting Tools
After your organization has an established account with Eagle, you will receive instructions for log-in to Eagle’s web based portal to access the system. Eagle’s web based portal will provide access to all of your organizations related data – i.e., shipping history, work in progress, indexed and stored claim files; and, all of your organizations statistics for managing your daily operations. The data stored by your organization will remain on our system for a period of 10 years.

At this stage your company will assign a provider number to use within your adjudication system? The problem is that with paper, this number is not present (and according to many of our clients, even when presented via an EDI file, the number is usually wrong). Eagle’s system will store all of your data for a 10 year period. Your organizations claims can be found in the system by searching for any relevant item associated with the claim.
On Demand Software
Eagle offers P2E as SaaS (Software as a solution), and will host Paper to EDI (P2E) on Eagles infrastructure, allowing your organization web based access to all available claim information and statistics. A portal eliminates the cost and time associated with implementation.
Security
Security features of Paper to EDI (P2E) make it so that no computer will have access to your data unless you authorize it to. In fact, you cannot even access your data unless the IP address of the computer you are trying to connect to have been set-up as being allowed. These advanced security measures ensure that privacy is at the top of Eagle’s list.
If you should want other IP addresses to connect to Eagle you will have to set up a VPN server that has an authorized IP address, and, have other computers connect to that VPN server; you are now verifying that it is OK for those people to connect through your network.
